Chairwoman Belinda Biafore and the West Virginia Democratic Party claimed that Delegate Riley Moore was the anonymous “WV” source connecting the Trump campaign and Russian President Vladimir Putin in alleged collusion. This was a baseless lie and the Democrats did not have a single shred of factual evidence, but that did not stop the smear attempt. The truth was reported in an update from CNN yesterday, and as you would have guessed, it is not at all connected to Delegate Riley Moore.

“Democratic Party Chair Belinda Biafore should apologize for consistently and deliberately misleading West Virginia voters,” West Virginia Republican Legislative Committee (WVRLC) Executive Director Phalen Kuckuck said.

CNN first reported last Wednesday that an anonymous source identified as being from “WV” reached out to Trump campaign officials to set up meetings with Russian President Putin. The very same day, the Democratic Party threw mud and maligned Delegate Riley Moore in a bizarre and factually-devoid press release.

News media across the state ran the baseless claims from the Democrats, and now they are unequivocally correcting the record.

From MetroNews: “’WV’ was not even Delegate Riley Moore, who was namedropped by the state Democratic Party.”

Biafore and the West Virginia Democratic Party purposefully lied and misled voters, insulting Delegate Riley Moore with zero evidence, just to try and score political points.

The West Virginia Democratic Party continues to spread fake news and lie to voters. The WVRLC and its leadership are calling for a return to civility and truth, and a swift apology from Democratic Party leaders.

“To salvage any credibility, Chairwoman Biafore and the West Virginia Democratic Party need to utter an apology and pledge to deal solely in facts. The Chairwoman’s lies have no place in West Virginia politics,” Kuckuck said.
